Test Taking Strategy: Look for the right answer!

Look for the right answer – Focus on key points!

This strategy can sometimes be misunderstood.  When we teach students to prepare for the exam, we advise to study the question with the right answer and understand why the answer is the right answer.  By studying and focusing only on the right answer, you hone in on that information.

The test taker that is adequately prepared recognizes the familiar and looks for key points.  The material you studied becomes your focus on what you are looking for in the “right answer”.  The test taker that is not prepared gets distracted by answers that really make no sense or has nothing to do with the question or materials studied.

Find the “right answer!” The right answer will contain the key points that you studied, which will make it easier to select the right answer.  Once you see the correct answer and you have read the question in its entirety, select the answer, and MOVE on.  If you put more time into the question, what often happens is that the others answers begin to look like a possible answer and second-guessing your choice begins.  This is a particularly important key point for analytical individuals.  Keep it simple!

Anything unfamiliar is usually the wrong answer.  Often these answers are referred to as “distractors”.  These “distractors” distract the test taker by having them think about the answer which may mean nothing or are irrelevant to the question asked.  Avoid “distractors”.

Maintain focus and look for the right answer.  Remember, your first response is usually the right answer.

Life Strategy

Look for the right answer and stay on your path!

In life, only you know the right answer and what to focus on to get what you want.  The wonder and magic of life, if you believe, are the clues and key events that direct you.

When you pay attention, there is a kind of flow, synchronicity.  Sometimes distractions show up that can affect you and keep you from going the direction you want to go.  They can show up for many reasons.  Reasons are distractions.  I have heard many times. “Reasons or Results!”  Are you on the side of reasons as to why you do not get your “right answer”? OR Are you on the side of results and get your “right answer”?

Metaphysically what you focus on expands.  If you focus on finding your “right answer”, then it will show up.  If you focus on distractions, then you will get further away from your “right answer”.  Distractions cannot be discounted.  Sometimes they show up to direct you to the “right answer”. Pay attention!

I believe that everything happens for a reason.  A bit too “woo-woo” for some of you.  We may not always know the reason or the reason does not make sense now, however, at some point, the reason is revealed and perhaps not meant for you.  Look and keep an eye for your “right answer” and key point on your life’s journey.  You will always find what you are looking for.
